Bathroom Renovation – Our most Elegant design yet!

I am so excited to finally be able to share with you the professional photographs of my clients home in Toronto! Here is what the bathroom looked like prior to the extensive renovations.

My clients required more storage space, they wanted to eliminate the tub (to the left of the shower, not shown) and brighten up this dark, disorganised space. I am thrilled to show you this re-designed, highly functional and now elegant new bathroom.  Drum roll please….

It still gives me goosebumps!

Heated ceramic flooring mimics the look of the walnut hardwood that I sourced for the rest of the second floor and it adds a warmth like no other.  This same tile was used for the shower floor and the bench. I picked up a granite off cut for the curb that ties in beautifully with the wood looking ceramic tile.

After thorough discussions with  my clients regarding what they wanted from their space, I began to put together a design to transform this space completely.

They wished for an all white bathroom, so once the tiles for the shower were chosen and the counter top selection was finalised, I pulled out my large colour samples and knew immediately that Snowfall White by Benjamin Moore was the perfect choice. The trim and ceilings are the same white, as well as the custom cabinetry which we colour matched for a perfect look.

Custom Corner Cabinet
The cabinetry was designed to ensure storage was no longer an issue and to maximise the space to its full potential. The high ceilings allowed for a corner cabinet to which we added sconces on the either side for additional and ambient lighting as well as crown molding as an added detail.

The all white solid surface counter tops, cabinetry, shower tiles and wall colour provide a classic look with clean lines.  Sparkly glass knobs, the beautiful chandelier and custom mirrors offer an elegant touch without being over the top.

A little bit of pretty is always a good thing.

I managed to sneak in some mason jars (below) and an antique mirrored tray (above left) from the Aberfoyle Market.  Mixing contemporary items such as the large vessel sinks and tall faucets with the older, more traditional pieces makes the design unique while complimenting the original style of this Victorian home.

For a seamless look in the shower I suggested a linear shower drain (pictured below -can you see it?!). This eliminates the generic round silver drain that we are use to seeing in the shower and you can’t even tell it’s there. If you want this style of drain, talk to your contractor first to ensure they are familiar with the installation process.

The rainfall shower head offers total relaxation and looks amazing.  Just bear in mind that this type of shower head uses more water and requires a larger than normal pipe connection to give you the right amount of water pressure.  If you don’t mind the higher water bills, then turn it on and enjoy!
